What is #GivingTuesdayISU?
#GivingTuesdayISU is Illinois State University’s annual day of giving. Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a day for Redbirds around the world, come together in a University-wide effort to inspire alumni, faculty/staff, students, parents, friends and the community to give to their passion at Illinois State. Through challenges, interactive leader boards and some good-natured fun, you can participate and motivate others to support a favorite college, department, organization, or scholarship that you believe in.
Why should I participate?
Your support provides crucial resources that nurture the University’s growth and success as a world-class institution. Your gift supports academics, research, scholarships, extracurricular activities, and service to others. It takes the collective annual support of alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty and staff to keep Illinois State University strong and stable.
When is it?
#GivingTuesdayISU happens annual on the first Tuesday after the Thanksgiving holiday, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year’s event kicks off at midnight on November 28, 2017 and will close at 11:59PM that same day.
How can I make a gift?
Giving on #GivingTuesdayISU is easy. Just visit IllinoisState.Edu/GivingTuesday and find the college, department, organization, or fund that you would like to give to and use our quick and easy online form to submit your gift.
What areas can I support?
When we say “support your passion,” we mean it. You can make a gift to any area of campus that is had special meaning to you. All colleges, departments, scholarships, and most organizations all have their own fund. You can browse the list of available funds at IllinoisState.Edu/GivingTuesday.
What if I don’t see my school, center or program in the list of participating groups?
If you wish to give to a very specific fund not listed on the drop down menu, please contact the annual giving office at 1-(800)-366-4478 to make your gift over the phone. It will still count towards #GivingTuesdayISU.
How do matching gifts and challenges work?
Matching gifts and challenge gifts encourage participation by allowing donors to make their gifts mean more on this special day. A complete list of challenges will be available at IllinoisState.Edu/GivingTuesday and all active matches/challenges can be viewed on the main landing page and each participating group’s landing page.
What other ways can I get involved in #GivingTuesdayISU?
Share, share, share! Your stories, your images, your memories all shared via social media using the hashtag #GivingTuesdayISU allow other to hear about this special day and make their own gift. The more you share, the more successful #GivingTuesdayISU will be.
Is there a minimum or maximum gift amount?
Every gift matters and we can accept gifts of all sizes online. If you have any questions about your gift please call us at 1-(800)-366-4478.
How can I make my gift go even further?
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer and submit the completed and signed form with your gift. We will take care of the rest.
